Thanksgiving! Fam, Friends, Food, and Fancy Nancy!

Our Thanksgiving in a nutshell (as in a nutshell as I can get...I tend to ramble). Mom and dad came to visit last weekend/kidnap me and Griffin. They came Friday and we left Saturday morning to go to Knoxville. It took forever! Traveling with a hungry baby. What can I say. We got in town in time for mom and dad to drop me and Griff off at my friend Sarah's daughter's 3rd birthday party where I got to hang out with some good friends from high school that I never get to see since I live forever far away.

After that I had a great week in Knoxville hanging out with Courtney and the cutest nieces in the world and my parents and bro. You know you are turning into a Memphian when leaving your baby in a running Escalade increases your blood pressure and makes you paranoid. We were in the woods near Farragut with NOTHING around us and I kept thinking some crazed man was going to jump through the woods and carjack my baby. He was fine :)

If anyone is related to a 2-5 year old little girl, they may be familiar with Fancy Nancy...if not, look her up. Too cute! I bring this up because I finally got the hot pink highlights in my hair that I have wanted since college! Woohoo! I couldn't during my internship because I never would have gotten a job. I decided a while ago that I would get them during maternity leave. Done! Love them. If I am told to get rid of them upon returning to my job, I may have to quit. The nose ring went out the window when Griff got his tiny fingernail hooked on it a few days old. Ouch. I figured fun hair was a lot less dangerous and now I'm hooked. Wow, rambling again! So, I came home from the salon and Ansley (cutest 2 year old niece ever!) called me Fancy Nancy. She cracks me up! When I looked up a picture of Fancy Nancy...I noticed that she does indeed have pink hair and her wardrobe is disturbingly similar to the things in my closet. I am a little girl's doll. And I'm afraid of dolls. The irony.

Griff had fun getting some quality Zacky and Bella time in and they stole a lot of his sugar as Ninny would say.

On Wednesday, after we went to Fantasy of Trees with the kiddos, Courtney and I fed the babies in the car then proceeded to take them all to Kroger the day before Thanksgiving. Not the greatest idea but we all survived. Then mom and dad drove me to Lebanon where I met up with Ninny and Dee so they could get a quick Griffsnuggle on their way in to Knoxville. Andrew's mom (AKA Mama JJ) met us there too and we moved my 8000 pounds of gear from their car to her car and headed on to Murfreesboro.

We had a great Thanksgiving and my child was a perfect angel the whole time. I was miffed. We met up at Mama JJ's sister's house with the whole fam and he was so mellow just looking around at everyone, he slept while we ate then I fed him and he socialized until we left and then slept the whole way home. After being perfect for hours, he had to have a little meltdown when we got back to the grandparents' but who can blame him. We've decided he does much better in crowds. Preferably with women telling him how cute he is. If a few women get in his face he starts smiling and cooing like a little charmer. Two words: ladies' man.

After that, we spent the rest of the weekend hanging out with family and he had another perfect night at Conner and Mason's birthday party (his 1 and 3 year old cousins). He loves to party, the little socialite. The Cars theme b'day par-tay was awesome, Katie!

I do have to throw in a little braggage about winning a game of Blurt. I'm a very competitive person. We were playing when it was time to feed the little man. I decided that instead of forfeiting the game, I would sit behind the couch to feed him and continue playing. I won! I was on a roll and I think everyone else wanted to start catapulting toys at me because I may have been a little annoying with some "witty" comments. Some may say obnoxious...boh!

We also did one of my fave things in the world. I went to Anthropologie for some Christmas gift picking outage. That store feels like someone walked into my brain then created all the things it would find exquisite. If they would let me, I would move in to the store and live there indefinitely. Only problem...crazy expensive. I would live in the sale room. Wait...problem numero due...no Anthropologie in the Memphetto...booo.

I also got to meet up with all of my roommates from senior year at Samford, Dr. Lindsay(with hubby Dr. Jim from Miami), Emily (with hubby Charles and adorable 1 yr. old Jacob from Nashville) and Charlotte (with hubby Wes and Naomi who was born a few days before Griffin from Savannah). All of my friends are spread out across the world. That would be a side effect of wanderlust. You tend to become friends with other wanderers. Good: visiting them means visiting the world. Bad: rare visits due to work, boo and lack of funds, boo! Somehow a lot of my friends converge in Nashville which is good. We also got to see our friends Walter and Ashley from high school who just had adorable little Brody! Griffin's new friend...one day they will appreciate each other's company and run amuck while we visit.

We came back today and I'm in a mad rush to do about 6 loads of laundry after being gone over a week, unpack, put up Christmas decorations, buy Christmas presents, and clean the house before we head back to Nashville for a wedding next weekend.

Now Griffin has been having a nonstop meltdown all night. I think he misses all the people. I selfishly am hoping that all the crying will make him actually sleep tonight. Wishful thinking :)
